Getting Started
This guide walks through the typical first-run workflow in ArchNGN, from getting an account, through setting up your workspace and connectors, to running your first workstream.
1. Get Account Access
Section titled “1. Get Account Access”ArchNGN is currently available by invitation. Visit app.archngn.com and select Request Access, or contact onboarding@archngn.com to request access directly. Once an administrator approves your request, sign in with Google, Microsoft, or email and password.
→ Full details: Manage Account
2. Create a Workspace
Section titled “2. Create a Workspace”After signing in, open Settings → Workspaces and click Create Workspace. Give it a name and optional description. Your new workspace is ready to use immediately. Use the Workspace Selector in the top-right corner to switch between workspaces; all platform features operate within the active workspace context.
→ Full details: Workspace
3. Set Up Connectors
Section titled “3. Set Up Connectors”Connect ArchNGN to the external systems that already hold metadata about your landscape. From Connectors, click New Connector, choose the type (e.g., GitHub), provide credentials, and configure the scope. Run the connector to sync objects and associations into the active workspace.

→ Full details: Connectors
4. Work with Objects and Associations
Section titled “4. Work with Objects and Associations”Navigate to the Repository to browse what has been ingested. Create objects directly to fill gaps, edit metadata to add ownership and lifecycle information, and define associations to capture how systems relate. Associations are the edges in your dependency graph; they power impact analysis, lineage views, and standard reports.

5. Navigate the Application
Section titled “5. Navigate the Application”The platform is organised around a flat left sidebar. Home sits at the top; each section below it opens a landing page with a tab bar for its sub-views:
| Section | Tabs |
|---|---|
| Repository | Objects, Associations, Reference Library, Enterprise Glossary |
| Model | Metamodel, Overlays, Frameworks |
| Connectors | Connectors |
| Workstreams | Workstreams |
| Jobs | Jobs |
| Explorer | Workspace, Object, Context |
| Reports | Reports |
| Settings (sidebar footer) | General, Workspaces, Users, Usage, Account Activity, Audit Log |
The top-right of the screen holds the Workspace Selector and your User Profile (personal settings, region, token usage).
| Element | Location | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Global Navigation | Left sidebar | All platform features |
| Workspace Selector | Top right | Switch active workspace |
| User Profile | Top right | Personal settings and token usage |
Global Search
Section titled “Global Search”Press Cmd+K (macOS) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) from anywhere in the app to open the global search modal. Search spans objects, associations, connectors, workstreams, and documents in the active workspace, with results grouped by type and linked directly to the relevant detail page.
Responsive Layout
Section titled “Responsive Layout”The application is fully responsive. On a phone or tablet, data grids switch to scrollable card lists, the sidebar collapses behind a hamburger menu, and graph views switch to portrait layouts. See Introduction → Responsive Design for the full breakdown.
6. Run a Workstream
Section titled “6. Run a Workstream”Once you have some objects in place, run a Workstream to accelerate the work. Choose a workstream type (New Design, Reverse Engineer, Forward Engineer, or Design Review). For a New Design you also pick a design type such as Solution Blueprint, then upload supporting documents or URLs and select context objects from the Repository. The workstream runs as a background job and produces diagrams, extracted objects, assessment summaries, and downloadable documents.
